The book will approach us to the Hebrew culture

Eager for knowledge readers, lovers of bibliographic pieces of jewellery and general reading-lover public are all invited to a tour around the hundreds of titles and authors related to the Jewish world that will undoubtedly surprise more than one.

In the Hall of Lleida Public Library from May 16th to May 31st, over 300 titles will be exhibited, altogether about a thousand books. The reader will be able to find his selection among a wide range of multiple fields in literature:  history, novel, language, religion, thinking, psychology, cooking, photography, narrative, poetry, heritage, philology, cinema, essay, sociology, biographies... They have in common the fact of belonging all to the Hebrew culture. Whether for their content or for the author.

The fair will have two separate sectors. On one hand, the exhibition of recently published books in the Catalan and Spanish markets. On the other hand, off-catalogue books published in South America more than 50 years ago which are impossible to find in the usual markets. The books will be exposed on tables and stands easing the way for the public to walk around.

For the exhibition and trade of the books available at the market we have had the cooperation of the local Bookkeepers Trust as well as that of several publishers from Lleida (Pagès Editors and Editorial Milenio), Barcelona (Palinur Ediciones, Alba Editorial y Ediciones Obelisco), Zaragoza (Libros Certeza) and Madrid (Sefarad Editores), some of them specialised exclusively in bibliography related to Judaism.

Catalogues of the books exhibited in the fair are available in pdf, by publishers or institutions.

Bibliographic rarities: off-catalogue books

In this Fair of the Hebrew Book expert collectors and readers will come across titles difficult to be found in the usual markets, real pieces of jewellery.

The fair will have a special stand for these off-catalogue books printed in the 40’s and 50’s in Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and Mexico. In most cases, they have not been reedited since then, fact that makes them so rare to be seen in the market. They have been specially brought from overseas for this Book Fair in Catalonia.

A list of the books exhibited from May 16th to May 31st in the Public Library of Lleida can be obtained in pdf.
